Children are at the heart of everything we do at Hunslet Carr Primary School and we work really hard to make sure that all our children believe that they can be anything they want to be. We hope that they are excited and curious about the world around them and develop the life skills they will need to be happy, successful, confident and resilient young people.
Our school has a community feel, and it is our vision that all young people at Hunslet Carr Primary School will have High Expectations, be Caring, have Positive Attitudes and be Successful. Our children benefit greatly from the strong partnerships and sense of common purpose which the school has developed with our governors, parents, local schools and the community.
Reception
At Hunslet Carr we pride ourselves in providing our children with learning experiences that will develop their social and academic skills in a caring, stable and stimulating environment.

The Early Years classrooms have excellent facilities and learning resources. Both classrooms in Reception  have    an Interactive Clevertouch Screen and a wide range of resources to support and inspire learning.

Reception have access to their own outdoor area, which children make full use of to support their learning journey. In addition to this, our children have weekly access to our school allotment and Library.

Our Reception follow the Early Years Foundation Stage. This is split into seven areas of learning:
1. Communication and Language
2. Physical Development
3. Personal, Social and Emotional Development
4. Literacy
5. Mathematics
6. Understanding the World
7. Expressive Arts and Design
For each area there are a series of steps which lead to the Early Learning Goals. These are the foundations to later achievement.
At Hunslet Carr we want to share your child’s learning journey and experiences with you and we use Tapestry to enable us to do this.

If your child will be due to start school in September 2021 (if they were born between 1st September 2016 and 31st August 2017 inclusive), we would love them to join our caring and inspiring Reception. Applications for a school place must be made by 15th January 2021.
