At Hunslet Carr, safeguarding is an essential part of our commitment to ensuring children are safe and supported, and fundamental to this is teaching our children how to safeguard themselves.  
As part of our school-wide CREW initiative, which focuses on promoting children's emotional well-being, we cover a safeguarding topic every week during our 'Wise Wednesday' sessions. 
Throughout the year, our children learn about various crucial issues, including Keeping Safe and Managing Risk, the NSPCC PANTS Rule, Zones of Regulation, Online Safety, Identity and Society, NSPCC Speak Out, Drugs and Alcohol, Physical Health, Financial Education, Life Changes, and Strong Emotions. 
To enhance our curriculum, we also invite external speakers who provide valuable insights and expertise. Partnerships with organisations like On the Verge, who work with children at risk of criminality and exploitation, the NSPCC offering in-school sessions, and visits from the Road Safety Team and the Canals Trust all contribute to a rich learning experience. Additionally, we have regular visits from our local policing team, reinforcing community safety messages.
