Our Approach to Pupil Premium Spending

Every year, the government, through the local authority, gives Hunslet Carr Primary School money to provide the best possible education to the children who come to our school.

As part of that funding, a proportion of that money is given based on the number of children in our school whose parents or carers receive the Universal Credit benefit (or have received Universal Credit at any point whilst the child attended our school). This funding is called the Pupil Premium.

Over half of the children who attend Hunslet Carr are eligible for Pupil Premium.

As this money is designed to help close the gap between the opportunities that exist for families who are not claiming the benefit and the families that are, the government through the Ofsted Inspection framework consider how effectively we are using these funds. 

So that we are constantly trying to maximise the impact this additional funding has on closing the gap that exists we regularly monitor and evaluate our provision every term. In doing so, we consider external research from sources such as Education Endowment Foundation as well as our in-school data and feedback.
