What are our Clarity Documents and why do we have them?

Clarity Documents

As leaders with a very clear vision on how we want the core elements of teaching and learning to look like, it is important we have some way of passing this information to the teaching staff.

The way we have decided to do this is through our Clarity Documents.

By setting out in a clear, easy to understand way what the teaching of core subjects should look like, what your learning environment should look like and how we mark and give feedback, the teachers here have a reference guide to compare to their practice.

How do we use them?

The Clarity Documents drive our CPD in school and are used to ensure consistent practice when leaders undertake monitoring.

For example, recent Guided Reading training focused on that section of the Clarity Document and teachers understanding. The morning went through the different aspects of Guided Reading as set out in the document with examples taken from videos of lessons and role-play.

Following the training, leaders used the Clarity Document when they observed Guided Reading sessions to ensure that they were effective in moving children’s understanding and knowledge forward in the session.

Furthermore, the documents are updated to reflect improvements in practice seen over time as well as being an excellent tool to help induct new teaching staff when they join the school.
